For many children a teddy bear is more just a toy. It’s a soft, source of comfort, a confidant, bringing comfort to a child who is lonely or hurting in some way.
Childline KZN has seen how much comfort teddy bears bring to a child no matter what the type of trauma, be it neglect, abuse or abandonment. These furry toys help in making the child happy, more fulfilled and better able to cope with their challenges. A teddy bear will be a constant in a child’s life, something to take away with them, something to make them feel less lonely, and something to call their own.
To commemorate 16 Days of Activism, Childline KZN aims to hand out as many teddy bears as possible to all of our clients as well as to any children we deem in need of a friend. We are calling on the public help us provide as many “friends” as possible by donating a new teddy bear to us.
These teddy bears can be dropped off at our offices at 123 Percy Osborne Road, Morningside. These will in turn be handed out to every child that walks through our door and we are positive that it’s going to add some cheer and comfort to our kids through their difficulties as well as through the festive season.
